This work stemmed from a desire to bring my modular synthesizers to the concert hall as well as blend them with live instruments. Through experimentation among many interesting sounds, I discovered ways to manipulate the vibraphone sound using synthesizer filters that sound similar to the motor on the vibraphone itself. Using this method, I could extort the speed of the oscillation to levels not achievable by the motor, thus creating a gradual separation or shift from reality. I decided to use this morphing as a theme throughout the work contrasted by immediate shifts from one section to another.
