Evren Variations

One of my goals as a composer is to blend elements from genres of metal and incorporate their aspects into my classical music. In Evren Variations, I attempt show this concept on full display. Using of multiple themes from my band Evren’s music, I tried to incorporate metal elements into a traditional theme and variations. The themes chosen range from melodies to bass-lines, and often I enhance the themes with inventions of my own. Harmonic structures commonly associated with metal such as octatonic scales and the altered Phrygian mode are also commonly incorporated. Evren Variations was written for the PHACE Ensemble, and is dedicated to Evren.
